
Úvodom by som chcel len prizvukovať, že je mi troška ľúto, že ani po 6 mesiacoch nemala žiadna mnou oslovená redakcia záujem o otestovanie resp. recenziu mnou ponúkanej Mini-ITX základnej dosky VIA VB8001-16 s procesorom VIA Nano L2200 1.6GHz, teda „novinky z 12.11.2008“ z dielne VIA Technologies.
Samozrejme ako užívateľ som využil možnosť popri dennodennej práci komparovať túto platformu s jej najbližšou konkurenciou ako aj zistenia kladov a záporov procesora, ale i navrhnutej platformy, o ktorej sa chcem s Vami prostredníctvom takejto recenzie podeliť a privítať aj Vaše názory a doplnenia.
Keďže moje možnosti komparatistiky sú značne obmedzené tak som za obdobie 6 mesiacov porovnal VIA Nano L2200 1.6GHz s Intelom Atom N270 1.6GHz, Intelom Celeron M 420 1.6GHz, AMD Sempronom 3200+ 1.6GHz a VIA C7-M ULV 1.6GHz.

Ako iste vidíte podľa menovaných procesorov nejedná sa o optimálnu komparatistiku, pretože VIA Nano ako jediné je postavené na dextop platforme VIA VB8001-16 Mini-ITX a ostatný dnes už starší kandidáti sú predstaviteľmi mobilnej platformy: notebookov 15,4“ alebo ultramobilných mininotebookov 8,9“. Nakoľko sa však jedná o užívateľskú recenziu tak mi snáď bude odpustené.
Aby sme teda ako tak streli rozdiely medzi desktopom a notebookom tak metodicky boli notebooky testované pri zapnutom sieťovom adaptéri teda plnili úlohu desktopu a v Notebook Hardware Control 2.0 bol nadstavený režim dextopu a režim Max. Performance.
Nebudem tu plytvať slovami o koncepcii Mini-ITX dosky to nie je ani mojím cieľom len podotknem, že sa jedná o štandardnú Mini-ITX dosku o rozmeroch 17cm x 17cm s tým rozdielom, že VIA VB využíva ešte staršiu koncepciu NordBrige + SoutBridge teda VIA CN896 + VT8237S avšak namiesto konvenčne zaužívaného štandardu PCI slotu má PCIe x16 slot a teda s možnosťou rozšírenia a zvýšenia grafického výkonu o diskrétnu grafickú kartu z dielní Nvidia, ATI (AMD), S3 Graphics, Matrox.
Ešte pred výsledkami samotných testov len pripomeniem, že aj keď som z diskusií pod článkami známy priaznivec „aVIAtik“, tak mám zmysel pre fair-play a teda prikrášľovanie či opačný spôsob sú mi cudzie a spochybňovanie mnou uvedených testov je nezmyselné, pretože mám všetky testy uložené formou ctrl+alt+prt scr.
Spoločným menovateľom všetkých zostáv bol Windows XP SP3.

EDIT: Ako bonus pridávam zaujímavé benchmarky :
K metodike: Jedná sa o Excelovské matematické testy, pričom všetky testy prebehli na MS Excel 2003, a keďže sa jednalo o súbory MS Excel 2007 tak bolo nutné požiť FileFormatConverters. Vtip je v tom, že už samotné otváranie MonteCarloBlackScholesOptionPricing je zdĺhavé, pretože súbor má bezmála 72MB (71,882 KB) + potrebuje uvedený "File Conversion in progres ..." Aj preto som sa rozhodol uvedené časy stopkami zmerať a tu je výsledok:

Metodika tohto testu bola koncipovaná tak, že pri uvedených zostavách bol použitý výlučne USB 2.0 kľúč o kapacite 512MB kde boli uložené excelovské súbory konkrétne cenníky nemenovaného veľkoskladu z rôznymi kapacitami 96 KB, 187 KB, 297 KB, 333 KB, 2003 KB, 2390 KB, 3467 KB, 3660 KB, 3682 KB, 12156 KB, 12173 KB, + už jeden vyššie spomenutý MonteCarloBlackScholesOptionPricing o kapacite 71,882 KB. Výsledná hodnota USB kľúča bola 308 MB (323,421,649) pričom po konvertovaní z neho vznikol Archive.rar súbor o veľkosti 91,581 MB. Testovalo sa v default nastavení RAR + sa pridalo heslo (AES 256bit, šifrovanie, ktoré využíva WinRAR) "extrahardwareextranotebook". Čas sa meral stopkami. Po spakovaní sa pôvodné súbory z kľúča vymazali a následne sa pristúpilo k rozpakovaniu Archive.rar súboru o veľkosti 91,581 MB na USB kľúč (Rozbaliť sem), kde sa po výzve uviedlo heslo "extrahardwareextranotebook" a zmeral sa čas. Tu sú výsledky:
